Volunteering

Be a Volunteer

From our origins, volunteers and volunteering has been the core of our mission.  Be a part of this legacy and make a vital contribution.

There are many ways to be a volunteer and give back to the park.  You can help plan special events, work in the office, or even be a tour guide.  If you have a skill that you think would benefit the Friends and the park, come talk to us.  You can reach us at 215-861-4971 or fill out the contact form below.

Some volunteer positions available

  • Twilight Tour Guide – Give free tours during the summer months to visitors and locals. (click here for more information)
  • Special Events – Help plan some of our special events and/or come work the event with us. They include the Pops on Independence concert, July 4th Activities, our Annual Meeting and the Founder’s Award Night.
  • Freedom 5K – Support the Freedom 5K by helping to plan the event and/or being a volunteer on the day of the event. (Click here for more information)
  • Office – With a small staff, we could use help in the office to stuff envelopes, handle filing and other tasks as they come up. We rely on our office volunteers to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Photographers – We are always in need of photographers to help document our programs, events and activities.
